PREPARING A SELECTIVE HEALTH PROFESSIONS PROGRAM APPLICATION

The information below is a general guideline for all health programs.  Students applying for the Traditional and BADNAP Nursing programs will apply through NursingCAS, and addiitonal information and instructions will be listed in the NursingCAS application.

While the documents requested from each program varies, the following guidelines will help prepare for the submission of a Selective Health Program Application.

Applicants must be admitted to OCCC prior to the application deadline. All communication regarding program admission will be sent to your OCCC e-mail address within 4-6 weeks after the program application deadline.

Criteria for admission to OCCC may be found online at http://www.occc.edu/admissions/requirements.html

Applicants who have not attended OCCC in the last 12 months need to reapply for admission.

Applicants must submit proof of payment of the Selective Admissions Application Fee (Traditional and BADNAP Nursing program applicants only pay NursingCAS fee).

Applicants must provide a printed receipt of payment of the nonrefundable Selective Admissions Application Fee (Not applicable to Traditional and BADNAP Nursing applicants applying through NursingCAS).

Valid receipts can be printed using the OCCC Bursar Office Online Payment System or can be issued for cash or check payments made at the OCCC Bursar Office (Not applicable to Traditional and BADNAP Nursing applicants applying through NursingCAS).

The Office of Recruitment & Admissions DOES NOT ACCEPT payment of this fee.

Applicants must provide proof of having completed prerequisite courses or proof of enrollment in the prerequisite course(s) (if allowed by the program to which the applicant is applying).

Must provide official schedule of enrollment for any and all in progress courses.

Applicants must meet the minimum college retention grade point average required for the program.

Applicants must provide test scores that are required for the specific program to meet basic application requirements to be considered for eligibility.

Test scores must be official scores provided from the issuing testing center or the OCCC Testing Center. Test scores submitted from another testing center must be marked as official and bear a signature/seal from the issuing test center, and must be submitted with the application. Test scores printed from the student portal are not official and will not be accepted.

Applicants must submit the most current and updated official college transcripts from every regionally-accredited institution previously attended, by the application deadline (Traditional and BADNAP Nursing program applicants applying through NursingCAS must have transcripts sent to NursingCAS; please review information regarding transcript submission on the online application).

Cohorts will be selected from eligible applicants and ranked by preference points and GPA according to individual program requirements. Remaining applicants will be placed on an alternate list.

Students with international transcripts appyling to either the Traditional and/or BADNAP Nursing programs: you must upload a copy of your third party evaluation showing U.S. Equivalency Summary. Please upload this information in "Other Documents." Do not request international transcripts for NursingCAS.

For BADNAP applicants: All applicants must have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited institution prior to the start of NUR 1519. Students who have not yet earned their Baccalaureate Degree but will complete their degree by the start of NUR 1519 must submit an official, certified letter from their current institution indicating that they are expected to graduate by the start of NUR 1519.  This letter must be on the institution's letterhead, bearing a signature/seal from an institution official.
